Sebastian Scherer was born in Aachen in 1975. After completing a commercial apprenticeship at a furniture store and academic design studies, Scherer relocated to Berlin where he initially worked as an interior designer for various architects and design studios. Scherer’s design for his X-Chair won the Special Award at the Promosedia Design Competition in 2009. Beginning in 2010, he developed a series of aluminum furnishings that earned international recognition. This led to his Aluminum Table being nominated for the Design Prize of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2012. The product designer won the Lexus Design Award 2014 for the prototype of his innovative Iris lamp. Scherer founded his NEO/CRAFT furniture label this same year and showed his work for the first time at the imm cologne 2015. One year later, the entire collection was nominated for the German Design Award 2016: the Iris lamp was commended as well as the Isom series of glass tables (winner), and the Loop series received a special mention. Sebastian Scherer’s objects are distinguished by individuality and functionality in equal measure. His creations are a symbiosis of time-honoured craftsmanship and new techniques. He first deciphers functions and materials, and then rearranges them to create autonomous objects that reflect the zeitgeist without seeming merely fashionable. His lucid designs recently won the AD Design Award 2016 in the category of “Modern Minimal".
His products are produced and distributed by NEO/CRAFT. www.neocraft.com

he Aluminium Series is based on the idea of transforming a two-dimensional form into a three-dimensional object through the process of folding. The smooth oscilloscopic formed legs gives an kaleidoscopic impression when seen from different angles.
The series is achievable in a limited series. Prices on request.
